Upcoming Art Events in the Woo
{ Chris Michelotti and Emma Clardy }
WE WANT TO PUT OUR best foot forward by saying “hello” and introducing ourselves. Normally, you will find information about upcoming art events and happenings in Worcester. We are not journalists but active members in the community that love their city, so we hope that you will indulge us a bit.
My name is Chris Michelotti (he/him) and I moved to Worcester in 2020. In 2021, I curated my first art show. Since then, I have produced more than thirty different events as Panduh Productions. I have worked with some amazing local artists during these last three years, and love the Worcester art scene. It has been encouraging to see the support for local arts, but I would love to see more people coming out. So, when I was given the opportunity to write an article letting people know what was exciting me in the area, I was happy to take it. I knew I didn’t want to do this by myself, so I invited my teammate at Panduh Productions to work on these articles with me.
My name is Emma Clardy (she/her) and I have lived in Worcester since 2019 when I moved from Syracuse, NY to attend Clark University. I joined Panduh Productions in July of 2023, and currently act as the social media manager and co-organizer. I graduated from Clark in December of 2022, but loved the Worcester arts community so dearly that I decided to stick around. I am thrilled to get the opportunity to share some of the events I am most excited about in Worcester this summer!
So as you can see, my text will be in blue, and Emma’s in red. This is how it will be moving forward, so you, the reader, will know who is talking. Before we go into some local art events, we would love to invite you to follow Panduh Productions on Instagram @productions_by_panduh that way you can stay up to date on all the cool things we are doing in the city. That’s also where you want to reach out if you have any fun ideas. Alright, so let’s talk about upcoming events.
FIRST FRIDAYS WITH PANDUH PRODUCTIONS:
September 6th will be the last solo show of the year. Local multimedia artist, Matthew Burgos (@inkblotsandsnapshots) will be showcasing his works. He has shown up for us in the past with live art using stamps he created. I love his color pencil work, and admire how active he is in the community. He hosts a portrait exchange every year, and I would love a good turnout to make it out and show him support. We are aiming for dance heavy music, as there will be a very large electronic music festival happening that night at the Palladium.
OPEN HACK AT TECHNICOPIA:
Every Thursday night from 7-9PM Technocopia, the local maker space, hosts and open hack night! Technocopia offers so much to the art community with shop spaces in woodworking, glass, metal, and digital art. I know next to nothing about the world of 3D printing and digital art, but Open Hack is a great place to ask questions, learn a new skill, or hone existing skills. This is just one of their many free offerings throughout the month, and it is a great opportunity to make new friends in the art community. Having a maker space in our community is such a gift and attending events there is a great way to directly get involved with the broader arts community in Worcester! Technocopia is located at 44 Portland st on the sixth floor of the printers building.
Thank you all so much for taking the time to read about the wonderful offerings of the art community in the coming months. Come dance with us at Electric Haze or create with us at Technocopia soon! We are so appreciative of the folks who we see out at events and we hope to see new faces this summer.
